I had reached out to Kramer Events earlier this year and spoke to them about my goal of educating engaged couples from wedding professionals in their specific field. The following are tips for those planning their special day graciously shared by Beau Kramer. Did you know Kramer Events offers more than just amazing Disc Jockey’s? They also offer a variety of photo booths, coordination, and uplighting!! And they just won Best DJ/EMCEE & LIGHTING/AUDIOVISUAL from the Best of 2019 California Wedding Day. Tips from Kramer Events

As you are putting together your wedding team, here are some things to keep in mind.

DJ

Each DJ is unique.  Make sure you select one that fits your style.  Do you want someone that is quiet on the mic, but an incredible club style mixer?  Or is your focus a polished MC who will be a prominent leader for the evening?  Maybe it’s someone tastefully humorous that gets your guests to laugh and breaks the ice.  How interactive would you like them?  You can usually get a sense of their style by reading their bio or listening to a sample of their mixes on their website.  Also, read reviews and look for the things that are specifically different than the rest. That will show their style.

Photo Booth

If you’re on the fence about getting one, they are awesome. It’s a 3 in 1.

  • A great way for guests to break the ice and engage with each other early on.
  • The prints your guests receive let them remember your wedding long after it’s over.
  • You get a guest photo book that is way more fun and hilarious than the simple one your parents had.

Lighting

Uplighting can change the entire feel of your room and creates a great background.  But be careful, uplighting alone can make the foreground details disappear such as your centerpieces, table decor, and cake. Adding pin spots or overhead lighting to these areas will instead focus your guests’ attention right to these areas making them stand out and be the first thing you see when you walk into the room. If you’ve invested in an awesome cake or centerpieces make sure people can actually see them. Ask your lighting company to show you before and after pictures to really see the difference.

Coordination

If you want to enjoy your own wedding and be able to live in the moment, hire a professional wedding coordinator or planner. You don’t want to spend your entire wedding making decisions or dealing with issues.  Spend it instead with the friends and family you invited. Use a planner if you want someone to hold your hand all the way through the planning experience.  Use a month of coordinator if you’ve done all the planning and just need someone to manage things the day of the wedding.  Be cautious of using a day of coordinator.  It takes longer than a day to prep and fully handoff your wedding to a professional.

Most importantly, live in the moment and enjoy your wedding!
